Pastor Fred Davis graduated from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO, in 1969. He and his wife, Joyce, interned at Twin City Baptist Church in Mishawaka, IN. After 1 ½ years of ministry, the LORD led then to take the Gospel to Taipei, Taiwan. Fred and Joyce served in Taiwan for 17 years, starting churches, teaching in the Baptist Bible Institute, training leaders, and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

When health issues prevented them from staying in Taiwan, coupled with the clear understanding that the LORD had shown them the work HE wanted them to do in Taiwan was now accomplished, they were now seeking the LORD’s guidance for the next appointed place in HIS plan and purpose for their lives. Because of their unique background and love for the Chinese people, under GOD’s leadership they were led to Vancouver, BC. with the special aim of reaching the Chinese immigrant community.

In 1992, under the LORD’s divine direction, the Chinese Tabernacle Baptist Church was established as an independent Baptist Church. Pastor continues to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry” and together with our faithful workers, we are spreading the Gospel at home and abroad.

Today, although CTBC continues to be a special place for the Chinese speaking families to grow in the grace of Christ, we are not exclusively Chinese; our mission is to be the salt and light of the earth and our desire is to minister to the whole community. As a result, our church family represents a diversity of backgrounds and ethnicities. No matter where you are from, you will feel welcome here.
